Love Story

In the summer of 2014, the Cooking-on-a-Budget class was developed to strengthen our regular budget class program. In our first class, we had 6 families successfully graduate. Each earned a new crock pot, a new cookbook, and a $50 gift certificate to Brother's Custom Meat Processing or for a week of groceries (if they chose). During 2014, we also had 5 other families successfully complete a regular set of budget classes. These families earned a week of groceries (or a $50 meat bundle) and a month of personal needs. Sadly, seven other families signed up for classes but did not attend enough classes to successfully complete the course. The estimated value of product provided was $1,983.

Winter Coat Distribution:

For individuals or families in need of winter coats, Love INC will be distributing gently-used coats, scarves, gloves, and hats at various locations. Please call 970-826-4400 for the next scheduled place and time.

Only one coat per family member per year please. If you do not find a coat, try again every few days as we add coats daily to the racks, but no trading of coats, please. No resident requirements-anyone can have a coat, but they are limited to one per person. Children may have parents pick up a coat and a spouse may pick out a coat, but all other friends and family members must be present.

We will be collecting used coats at all times now. If you would like to donate any coats, we would love to have them as long as they aren’t ripped and the zippers and buttons all work easily. Donated coats can be dropped at any of the distribution locations, Calvary Baptist Church or at the Love INC office at 656 School Street (drop off area is open 24/7). Thank you.

Commodities (TEFAP)Distribution (Moffat County only):

Each month we distribute on the 3rd Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. and the 3rd Thursday from 3-5 p.m. Low-income Moffat County residents can come either day but not both. Location: 595 Breeze St. (Moffat County Social Services Building). Dinosaur residents can have their food delivered to Dinosaur on the 2nd Friday of each month. To receive delivery in Dinosaur, clients must call Love INC 970-826-4400 no later than the preceding Thursday by 5 p.m.

Love INC Cooking-on-a-Budget Class:

We will be teaching a 12 week long set of classes to help individuals learn the skill of budgeting and cooking frugal, yet tasty meals for residents of Routt, Moffat, and Rio Blanco Counties. Our next set of classes begin in January. Exact dates, times, and locations are not yet determined. The class will be limited to 10 families, so participants are encouraged to call now and put their name on the list for these popular classes. Low-income participants earn a week's worth of food (after 6th class), a new crock-pot, a cookbook, and a $50 gift card for meat (after 12th class). During the class, they will collect a total of 45 or more recipes that will help them stretch their food dollars. Many recipes are especially formulated to make the best use of food received by food pantries or commodities distributions. Any income-level family is invited to attend these free classes and will earn a cookbook, but only low-income families will receive the other incentives. Participant referrals from other agencies are accepted as long as we are provided a name and current phone number so we can contact the proposed participant. (Incentives are only earned if no more than 1 class per 6-week period has been missed). Apply at Love INC by phone at 970-826-4400.

Please call (970) 826-4400 for more information on current events.
